Registered Nurse in home care
Job Summary
Advantage Home Care is looking for a friendly but businesslike Registered Nurse to provide quality medication services to our clients. This requires in home visits as well as office time filling out MARs, faxing doctors, and documenting home visits. Approximately 50% of the job is visiting clients, 30% is documentation, and 20% is teaching and delegating caregivers.
About us:
Advantage Home Care provides quality home caregiving services to elderly and disabled people living in their own homes and independent living communities. We are independently owned and managed. You won't ever have to deal with Corporate here. You will be working closely with friendly, fair, and decent office staff with considerable experience. We schedule for you, provide administrative support, and make your job easy.
Qualifications
- Unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse license.
- Knowledge of common medical concerns among the elderly and disabled population.
- Experience with g-tubes and diabetes management preferred.
- Excellent organization skills, to keep on time and on track. Most of our RN time is NOT billable, so we need you to stay on time unless you find a problem in the field. Most days you will visit two clients in their homes, by appointment, and return to the office to document.
- Excellent written communication skills ensure caregivers are given clear instructions, and clients receive the meds in the right dose, at the right time. This may also require faxes and phone calls to doctors offices for clarification.
- Flexibility to adjust your communication style for different situations and audiences, for example with elderly people with dementia and hearing loss, and with staff members who need help understanding procedures.
- Willingness to provide minor physical assessments; for example to check for rashes and pressure ulcers, or for toenails that require a podiatrist. You will only be assessing needs. You will not actually be providing this care.
- Driver's license and insurance
- Home health or home care experience preferred but not required.
Benefits
- No physical care needed. A major benefit of home care is the opportunity to work with one client at time, primarily doing interviews and teaching, without much close contact. There is far less risk of catching a communicable disease or being injured.
- Opportunity to visit dogs, cats, and other peoples' family members without having to take them home and care for them yourself. ;)
- Part time, flexible schedule, between 12 and 24 hours per week. Our set schedule is Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00-3:30. Additionally, approximately 3 times a month we will need to schedule you on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. You may occasionally need to work until 4 or 4:30pm to accommodate client and caregiver schedules, but this is not common. If you have a friend who also wants part time RN work and wants to job share, we're all for that, as well... as long as Tuesdays and Thursdays are covered.
- Paid travel time between client visits. Newer company car available (shared vehicle). Mileage reimbursement when you use your own car.
- $46.00 - 52.00 per hour, DOE
- Sick leave available after 90 days, PTO available after 1200 hours of work, and 401k available after 1000 hours of work with AHC.
