POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct clinical care across a full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, abortion care, colposcopy, and LEEP. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, this role requires flexibility to rotate across PPGNY health centers. Practicing within the full scope of New York State RN licensure and in accordance with PPGNY standards of care.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SRH Clinical Care and ICA Patient Care (90%)
โ€ข Reviews the patient health history for completeness and records findings. Alerts APC regarding critical information about the patient's chief complaint, history of present illness, and other current or past medical or social problems.
โ€ข Provides care to patients receiving family planning, abortion, colposcopy, LEEP, and other GYN services according to PPGNY medical policies and procedures under the direction of APC, or physician.
โ€ข Provide direct nursing care throughout the abortion care continuum-pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure-including preparation, continuous monitoring, and recovery. Assist in the procedure room and recovery area, ensuring clinical stability and emotional support for patients. Administer and monitor medications used to induce sedation in accordance with PPGNY protocols and RN scope of practice. Ensure safe, timely documentation, patient education, and post-sedation evaluation.
โ€ข Accurately documents and administers medications as ordered by the provider and provides associated teaching.
โ€ข Documents competently in the electronic medical record using the correct PPGNY templates and forms.
โ€ข Arranges for interpreters for patients with communication barriers.
โ€ข Collaborates with members of a multi-disciplinary health care team & provides care within New York State RN scope of practice.
โ€ข Assists in promoting optimum center operations, excellent patient service and compliance with both agency and funding source policies and regulations.
โ€ข Participates in health center/affiliate efforts to achieve established goals for productivity.
โ€ข Adheres to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in-clinic and on the phone, and the system for addressing client complaints.
โ€ข Assists in the orientation and training of new RN/LPN or unlicensed medical personnel on the center team as needed.
โ€ข Performs other educational and experience related duties as required.
โ€ข Assists in abortion service in a variety of functions including abortion counseling,
โ€ข Provides health education and nursing care related to family planning, reproductive health, abortion service, transgender health services, and STI's to all clients.
โ€ข Provide accurate patient centered, non-judgmental, education according to MS&G and signs informed consent related to visit.
โ€ข Performs laboratory tests as ordered, completes laboratory requisitions, packages labs
Maintenance of Clinical Skills and Competencies (10%)
โ€ข Maintain licensure, certifications, and competencies in abortion care and reproductive health as required by PPGNY, PPFA, NYS DOH. Participates in regular competency checks and training for all new services, tests, and skills as assigned. Performs and
maintains job duties within scope of practice based on RN competencies, NYS Licensure, BLS, ACLS, PPFA Privileging and/or specific education and training.

  • Monday, Tuesday & Thursdays, with Saturdays as needed
  • Thursdays are required.

$64.10 - $64.10 an hour
