Title: Registered Dietitian - Vassar Dietary Department - Poughkeepsie, NY- Part time, 20 hours per week, variable 8-hour shifts 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, weekends and holidays required.
 
Summary: The Registered Dietitian demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate nutrition care to all ages of the life span including neonates/pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients served by the Food & Nutrition Department. Assumes responsibility for performing nutrition counseling; completes nutritional assessments; calculates nutrition requirements; completes nutrition focused physical examinations to identify malnutrition; assess appropriateness and adequacy of nutrition support and makes recommendations on nutrition support, participates in community nutrition programs; functions as a member of the health care team to provide optimal nutrition care to prevent/improve malnutrition rate, enhance wound healing, prevent/improve acute and chronic diseases states/symptom management and overall improve patient care/outcomes.
 
Responsibilities: 
 
1. Complete nutrition assessment using evidence based and validated tools following the Nutrition Care Process and utilizing the International Dietetics and Nutrition Terminology Reference Manual: Standardized Language for the Nutrition Care Process (IDNT).
 
2. Executes purposefully planned nutrition counseling with the intent of changing a nutrition- related behavior, risk factor, environmental condition or aspect of health status for an individual, target group or the community at large.
 
3. Effectively applies knowledge and communicates with others within the multidisciplinary team (e.g. daily rounds).
 
4. Demonstrates clinical competency through continuing education and meets accrediting body regulatory standards.
 
5. Accepts accountability and responsibility for ensuring safety and quality in the services provided and adheres to the Code of Ethics.
 
6. Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors and hospital personnel.
 
7. Maintains and Models Northwell Health Values.
 
8. Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
 
9. Performs other duties as required.

Education/Skill Required:
  • Bachelor’s level degree
  • Preferred: Master’s level degree
  • Registered Dietitians who are credentialed prior to January 1, 2024 will not be required to obtain a graduate degree per the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Individuals who are seeking to become eligible for the registration examination for the first time on or after January 1, 2024 will be required to hold a master’s degree.
  • Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) credential is required if covering outpatient services.
  • Computer skills, Microsoft Office suite experience, presentation skills
Salary Range: $29.65 - $55.55 hourly (Pay rate per years of relative experience)
