Reporting to the Professional Development Director, the Professional Development Educator is responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the education activities at the facility.  These activities include both general education/in-service, as well as continuing education offerings.  Integral to this process is a commitment to the philosophy, goals and objectives of Doctors Medical Center.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing- Master's Degree preferred

Minimum Experience/Skills:5+ year teaching/precepting experience

License/Certificates/Credentials:Current CA Registered Nurse license required, valid CA drivers license and proof of automotive insurance. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, MICN, CEN.
Physical Demands:Lift/position up to 25 lbs. Push/pull up to 25 lbs of force.
Frequent sitting. Moderate standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and bending
Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position
Adequate vocal pitch and volume

Vision Requirements:Sufficient perceptive acuity (vision and hearing) to perform all the related duties of the position

Working Conditions:Occasional pressure due to calls, classes, projects. Variable schedule. Travel up to 20%.

1. Accountable for Collaboration and Education:
a) Implements a working knowledge of the Adult Learning Principles as evidenced by defining education objectives and utilizing appropriate instruction methodology.
b) Assesses staff educational needs and independently and/or collaboratively develops, implements, teaches, and evaluates a variety of teaching programs.
c) Directs the orientation process by providing orientation according to the needs of new employees and communicates evaluation and completion of orientation process to the appropriate manager.
d) Collaborates with departments as an outreach to assess and provide education, including in-services.
e) Reviews educations needs of individual staff and assists them in attaining clinical ladder goals.
