How you'll contribute
Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice across multiple inpatient units. Demonstrates flexibility to float where needed and collaborate with interprofessional teams to support safe, high-quality care. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.
Essential Functions
  • Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and related medical care.
  • Documents care provided in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Assists with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
  • Displays initiative and flexibility to float throughout the building to support departments and staff.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, psychosocial/spiritual support).
  • Assesses learning needs; provides age- and culture-appropriate patient/family education.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
  • Participates in performance improvement and required education; works other shifts/units as needed and may take on-call assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Information
Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing. Possible exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, gases/vapors/fumes, and latex.
Qualifications and requirements
Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: 1- 2 years minimum bedside RN experience required; 2- 4 years critical care experience preferred.
  • Current RN license in state of practice.
  • Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred.
    Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments. Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple clinical software systems. Effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand). Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
