What is a part-time RN?

RN stands for registered nurse. Part-time RNs provide care for patients with illnesses and injuries. They often work in conjunction with physicians to develop treatment plans to help the patient become healthy again. Part-time RNs have the same job duties as full-time RNs; the main difference is that part-timers typically work thirty hours or less per week. Part-time RNs are not able to diagnose illnesses; once the doctor or other supervising health professional has determined what is ailing the patient, the RN is able to work with the patient to explain what the treatment plan entails and their role in recovery. As a part-time RN, your responsibilities may include documenting medical history, administering medications, and checking patient vital signs. You may also advise patients and families about how to continue treatment at home and how to prevent future illnesses.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time RN?

To thrive as a Part Time RN, you need a current nursing license, strong clinical assessment skills, and familiarity with common medical procedures. Competence in electronic health records (EHRs), medication administration systems, and basic diagnostic equipment is necessary. Flexibility, excellent communication, and the ability to quickly adapt to changing patient needs are valuable soft skills. These abilities ensure effective patient care and seamless integration into healthcare teams, even with variable or reduced hours.

How do part-time RNs typically coordinate patient care and communication with full-time staff?

Part-time RNs often work closely with full-time nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care. They participate in shift handovers, maintain detailed patient notes, and communicate any changes in patient status to the incoming team. Effective collaboration and clear documentation are essential, as part-time RNs may not be present every day. Many healthcare facilities also use digital charting systems to keep all staff updated, helping part-time nurses stay informed and contribute effectively.

Can I do registered nurse part-time?

Registered nurses (RNs) can work part-time positions, which are common in healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities. Part-time RN roles typically require maintaining licensure, and scheduling can vary to include evenings, nights, or weekends based on the facility's needs.

Job description

Bradford at Warrior understands the recovery process because we know that everyone has a story to tell. We empathize with our patients and provide them with the best care at every stage of their journey. We know that addiction isn’t the same for everyone, so evidence-based research informs our processes, treating patients where they are for who they want to become. Our goal is to help patients and their family overcome addiction in the long term.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to add to our dynamic team. The Registered Nurse at Warrior plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services to patients across various medical settings. This position focuses on providing direct patient care, ensuring that each individual receives personalized and effective treatment plans tailored to their unique health needs. The nurse will be responsible for educating patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, and preventive care to promote optimal health outcomes. Additionally, the role involves specialized skills such as wound care management and supporting patients with complex medical needs. Ultimately, the Registered Nurse serves as a patient advocate, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the quality of care and improve patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including triage, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions
  • Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and post-treatment care
  • Perform wound care management as ordered by the provider
  • Implement infection prevention and control protocols
  • Emergency response as needed
  • Motivate and re-engage patients utilizing de-escalation and motivational interviewing techniques
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs, ensuring ethical and compassionate care delivery
  • Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care
  • Document patient information accurately and maintain current medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Adapt nursing approaches to meet the needs of all patients as individuals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or region
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program (associate or bachelor's degree in nursing)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Demonstrated experience in direct patient care within a hospital or clinical setting
  • Proficiency in wound care techniques and implementing infection prevention and control protocols
  • Knowledge of patient re-engagement techniques including de-escalation and motivational interviewing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary care team including physicians, mid-level providers, therapists, and non-licensed support staff in a collaborative healthcare environment
  • Additional certifications in addiction nursing, substance use disorders, patient advocacy, or health education
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare informatics
