Job description

The registered nurse is a member of the nursing team. The registered nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to meet the physical, psychological, educational, social, and spiritual needs appropriate to the age of the patient served; as well as the care needed as described in the departmentโ€™s policies and procedures. They will be responsible for coordinating patient care and establishing a trusting environment while assisting patients and their family members.
The forensic nurse primarily gives care to patients affected by violence and trauma and is able to interact with agencies that respond to these patients. In addition to providing a complete medical forensic exam, they are trained to collect evidence maintaining chain of custody and provide expert testimony in court.

This a part time position and required 48 hours of call each month.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
  • Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
  • CPR
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an RN
