What does a part time risk analyst do?

A part time risk analyst helps organizations identify, assess, and manage potential risks that could impact their operations or financial health, but works fewer hours than a full-time employee. Their responsibilities may include analyzing data, preparing risk reports, and recommending strategies to minimize losses. Part time risk analysts often focus on specific projects or areas of risk, and may work flexible hours to accommodate organizational needs. This role is common in finance, insurance, and other industries where risk management is crucial.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time risk analyst?

To thrive as a Part Time Risk Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in finance, economics, or a related field, often with a relevant degree. Familiarity with risk management software, data analysis tools such as Excel or SQL, and certifications like FRM or CFA are advantageous. Effective communication, critical thinking, and adaptability help you collaborate with teams and present findings clearly. These skills are crucial for accurately assessing risks and supporting organizational decision-making while balancing a part-time workload.

How do part-time risk analysts typically collaborate with full-time risk management teams?

Part-time risk analysts often work closely with full-time team members by participating in regular meetings, sharing analysis reports, and providing insights on specific projects or risk assessments. They may focus on particular tasks, such as data analysis or preparing risk documentation, and communicate findings to the broader team. Effective collaboration is usually facilitated through digital platforms, clear scheduling, and open channels of communication, ensuring that part-time analysts can contribute meaningfully despite reduced hours.

  • Provide strategic oversight of employee and labor relations, navigating complexity and mitigating risk across union and non-union environments
  • Partner with operations and commercial teams to support client retention, new business, and overall sector growth
  • Optimize HR processes, systems, and service delivery models to improve efficiency, scalability, and field adoption
  • Leverage data and analytics to inform decision-making, measure impact, and continuously improve people and business outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements while maintaining a pragmatic, business-focused approach to risk management
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with leaders, clients, and key stakeholders across the organization
  • Contribute as a senior member of the Compass Group North America People Leadership Team, influencing broader enterprise people strategy

Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including senior-level partnership with business leaders in complex, multi-site environments
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience leading across multiple HR functions with a strong balance of strategy and execution
  • Deep experience in unionized environments, with hands-on involvement in labor relations and workforce strategy
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect people strategy to operational and financial outcomes
  • Proven ability to coach and influence senior leaders, driving leadership effectiveness and organizational impact
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization
  • Experience supporting high-volume, frontline workforces (hospitality, food service, retail, healthcare, or similar environments preferred)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of complexity and ambiguity
