Research Compliance Analyst I

Research Compliance is seeking a Research Compliance Coordinator to join our team. This position provides administrative and regulatory coordination for institutional oversight of research involving animals, biohazards, and human subjects. The Research Compliance Coordinator supports the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and Human Research Protection Program (HRPP/IRB) by managing submissions, records, communications, and committee logistics to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, institutional policies, and ethical standards.

Essential Functions

• Coordinate submission, review, approval, and continuing oversight of research protocols for the IACUC and IBC.
• Perform administrative pre-review of IACUC and IBC submissions to assess completeness and consistency with Federal and institutional requirements.
• Communicate with investigators to obtain revisions, clarifications, and required documentation.
• Prepare meeting agendas, minutes and presentations for committee meetings.
• Attend committee meetings, record minutes, and document determinations and required actions.
• Communicate committee decisions, required modifications, and approvals to investigators in a timely manner.
• Track protocol status, approvals, modifications, renewals, and closures using electronic compliance systems.
• Gather information for incident reports and draft reports for external agencies.
• Coordinate facility site visits and program review, compile and follow up on related items.
• Assign training as needed and verify completion of required training
• Escalate issues as needed to the Research Compliance Analyst or Sr. Manager.
• Manage and maintain official and electronic records and files according to compliance requirements.
• Prepare materials for publication on the Research Compliance SharePoint site.
• Support administrative and recordkeeping functions for the IACUC, IBC, and HRPP.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of degree and experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including SharePoint

Preferred Education and Experience

• Relevant certification (e.g., ALAT or LAT)
• Up to 2 years of experience in research administration, environmental health and safety, biosafety or animal research
• Sound judgment, discretion, and ability use independent judgment in understanding when to escalate issues to the Research Compliance Analyst III or Sr. Manager.
• Excellent organizational skills to effectively meet deadlines and trouble-shoot problems
• Established interpersonal skills that promote building strong working relationships
• Demonstrated ability to interact with colleagues in a positive and constructive manner and to work effectively in a diverse work environment
• Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal, reading, and analytical skills, some independent decision-making experience
• Self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment

Work Environment

• Exposure to laboratory animals required
• Laboratory environment - possible exposure to chemical, biological, or other hazardous substances
• Entering laboratory spaces where Biosafety Level 2 organisms are present
• Entering laboratory spaces where Class 4 lasers are present
• This may include wearing personnel protective equipment (PPE) - including wearing respiratory protection for long periods of time

Physical Demands

• Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment
• Push/pull/lift up to 20lbs
• Stooping, bending, crouching

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This part-time (.5 FTE) role is a hybrid position that requires working on-site an average of two days per week.

Annualized Salary Range

$62,100 - $76,000 *

* Final salary depends on the required education for the role, experience, level of skills relevant to the role, and work location, where applicable.
