Currently looking for Part Time Evenings- 3PM-11PM
Position Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the nursing department provided throughout the Home during a specified shift. Assumes administrative responsibility as needed to handle emergencies which may arise on the designated tour of duty. Assists with Nursing Administration in formulating Nursing Policies and Procedures and in evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing program.
Support Culture of Excellence through active role with assigned neighborhood initiatives.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assesses the quality of care being provided throughout the Home; makes staffing adjustment necessary to provide quality patient care in all areas of the Home.
  • Provides general supervision of the nursing staff and acts as a resource person to all levels of nursing personnel.
  • Understanding of and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Provides orientation of emergency procedures and nursing procedures for agency personnel and for new staff when necessary.
  • Makes independent decisions in regard to patient care within the perimeters of established policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates emergencies and initiates appropriate actions in emergency situations.
  • Provides continuity of care by interpreting the departmental philosophy of care and goals of nursing service to the nursing staff on the designated tour of duty.
  • Interprets administrative and departmental policies and procedures to staff and assures compliance with established policies by staff.
  • Evaluates and/or participates in the evaluation process for the nursing staff on the assigned shift.
  • Provides on unit teaching to nursing staff as needed.
  • Participates in staff education program of the Home; may conduct staff education programs for the staff on assigned tour of duty.
  • Participates in research or quality assurance programs of the Home.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Ensures that all Members are receiving the necessary care and services to enhance and promote quality of life.
  • Documents all required Member care information accurately and timely in My Unity.
  • Notifies Member families with changes to Member plan of care.
  • Participates in the formulation of policies and procedures of the Nursing Department.
  • Participates in in-service Education Fire and Safety Programs. May attend meetings and workshops to improve job skills and/or working relationships.
  • Responsible for completion of nursing staff evaluation on assigned shifts.
  • Responsible for scheduling during assigned shift.
  • Performs other duties as required by Director of Health Services from time-to-time.

Expectations of the Position:
  • Dependable, report to work on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation.
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly” service-oriented demeanor and supports Culture of Excellence initiatives by interactions with co-workers and/or Members.
  • Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook).
Qualifications of the Position:
Education: Graduation from an approved school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree and/or courses in supervision desirable.
Experience: Minimum five years progressive nursing experience. Three years of Nursing Home Supervisory experience required.
Skills: Ability to meet the public and participate in professional programs.
Licenses / Certifications: Current NYS Registration and Licensure.
