Essential Job Duties
Reporting to the Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, the Associate Vice Provost and Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid provides strategic and operational leadership for the university's comprehensive financial aid and scholarship enterprise. Leading a large and complex operation, the position shapes institutional approaches to financial aid, affordability, and student support while ensuring effective stewardship of university resources and compliance with federal and state requirements.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to university and division leadership, translating policy, data, and emerging trends into strategies that advance enrollment, affordability, student success, and institutional priorities. You will shape financial aid policies and awarding methodologies, guide continuous improvement across operations and technology, and lead a high-performing team committed to service, collaboration, professional growth, and operational excellence.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Strategic Leadership & Institutional Advising:
  • Advise university and Enrollment Management leadership on financial aid policies and strategies affecting enrollment, affordability, student success, and institutional resources.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic priorities for Enrollment Management and Services.

Financial Aid Strategy & Compliance:
  • Establish financial aid packaging methodologies and oversee federal, state, private, and institutional financial aid programs.
  • Ensure financial aid operations and policies comply with applicable federal and state regulations.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead continuous improvement of financial aid operations, technology, data use, compliance, and customer service practices.
  • Exercise independent judgment in policy interpretation, awarding methodology, resource allocation, and operational priorities.
Organizational & Collaborative Leadership:
  • Lead a complex financial aid and scholarship operation while fostering service, collaboration, professional development, and operational excellence.
  • Build strong partnerships across the university to advance shared enrollment and student success priorities.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a relevant post-Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of three (3) years or greater of related professional experience, or a relevant undergraduate degree and a minimum of five (5) years or greater of relevant experience may be substituted for the advanced degree.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Progressive leadership in student financial aid administration within a complex, selective university environment, including leading and developing professional staff, building strong collaborative relationships, and advancing a culture of student-centered service.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal student financial aid programs, financial aid data processing, and computerized financial aid systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Success leveraging technology and data to improve financial aid operations and inform institutional decision-making.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Campus Solutions or comparable financial aid management systems.
