Job description

Part time Remote Estate Planning Document Specialist

EPIC Estate Plans is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Remote Estate Planning Document Specialist to assist with the preparation, review, and modification of estate planning documents. This is a remote position working under the supervision of a licensed attorney.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work independently as a self-starter in a fully remote environment.
  • Prepare and edit estate planning documents using Microsoft 365, primarily Microsoft Word.
  • Utilize WealthCounsel forms and document systems; knowledge of WealthCounsel is a plus.
  • Review client intake forms and information to identify necessary document changes.
  • Understand common estate planning terminology and concepts and use that knowledge to prepare documents accurately.
  • Compose appropriate changes to standard document language based on client intake information and basic instructions provided by the supervising attorney.
  • Review intake documents to determine when client correspondence or follow-up letters are needed and prepare those letters accordingly.
  • Research and locate real property records and documents and use the information obtained to prepare deeds, affidavits, and related documents.
  • Review documents carefully for accuracy, consistency, formatting, and completeness.
  • Make last-minute changes and corrections to unsigned documents when requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle client information professionally.
  • Communicate effectively with the supervising attorney and team members regarding document status, questions, and requested revisions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience with estate planning documents strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of trusts, wills, powers of attorney, deeds, affidavits, and other common estate planning terminology.
  • Experience with WealthCounsel is a strong plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Microsoft 365 skills.
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or missing information.
  • Ability to follow attorney instructions and translate those instructions into accurate document revisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines while working remotely.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Ability to handle time-sensitive and last-minute document corrections professionally.
  • Strong organizational and research skills.

Work Environment

Remote / Work From Home

All document preparation and changes are performed under the supervision and direction of a licensed attorney. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently while maintaining regular communication with the attorney and administrative team.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who understands estate planning terminology, can confidently work with legal documents, and can take information from an intake form or attorney instructions and turn it into accurate, professionally prepared documents.

Experience with estate planning document preparation is highly desirable. WealthCounsel experience is a plus.
