Technician will troubleshoot problems relating to A/C, Heating, & Refrigeration, make repairs, and perform preventive maintenance on facilities equipment.
  • This position will travel between our service areas located in Lee County, Harnett County, and Chatham County as needed.
  • This is a time-limited position.
  • Occasional after hours may be required.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required

Essential Duties
Technician will also assist with plumbing and electrical installations and repairs as needed. Make changes and alterations to systems as required to maintain comfort in all buildings. Perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC systems and ensure documentation of PMs. Maintain spare parts inventory for repairs of critical equipment. Assume other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and Assistant Director of Facilities.

  • Refrigerant pressure gauge set - Daily
  • Company vehicle - Daily
  • Refrigerant charging scale - Weekly
  • Temperature and humidity meters - Daily
  • Computer terminal/laptop - Daily
  • Power tools - Daily
  • Pipe threading machine - Monthly

Minimum Requirements
Required educational background:
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of an Associate Degree in HVAC equipment.
Required kind and number years of work experience:
  • Six years hands on experience in maintenance and operations of HVAC equipment.
  • Proficient in electrical troubleshooting, electrical distribution equipment, lighting controls, 3 phase systems up to 480 volts.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • State Board EPA Certification for Refrigerant, and Refrigerant Recovery and Reclaim; CFC Certification

Preferred Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration, Chilled Water Systems; Hot Water Boiler Systems; Pump Systems; Heat Pumps; VAV Systems; Gas Heating Systems; Direct Digital Control Systems; Refrigeration Systems
