Job description

The Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center in Brookline is accepting applications for several part-time Certified Lifeguards. Applicants must have current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent); American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) and be a minimum of 16 years old.

The Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center will provide a FREE American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification course for qualified lifeguard candidates, provided you work for a minimum of 6 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months after completion of the course.

Potential candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the time of hire and be able to complete the following:

  • 300 yard continuous swim with rhythmic breathing
  • Timed Event under 1 minute & 40 seconds:

o Swim 20 yards

o Surface dive (feet or head first) to retrieve a 10lb brick

o Swim 20 yards on back holding the 10lb brick over the chest

o Place brick on the side of the pool

o Climb out of the pool without the use of a ladder or stairs

  • Tread water for 2 minutes with only the use of legs (no arms/hands)

Hours and Pay: Several shifts available: early mornings, day time/afternoons, evenings, and weekends possible. Excellent working conditions and starting pay is $20.00 hourly.
