Schedule: Monday & Friday - 9.00 am to 4.30 pm (on-site); Wednesday - 9:30 am to 6.00 pm (offsite)

The Opportunity:

Working under the direction of the Manager, Women, Families, and Community Health, the Behaviour Consultant works closely with families to develop individualized programs and implement interventions to improve social, communication, and daily living skills of children from 0-6 years with Support needs. In addition to providing direct services to children with support needs, the incumbent also acts as a consultant to support parents and caregivers in implementing strategies at home and in other settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop individualized behavior intervention plans for clients based on evaluation, assessment, and analysis of data;
• Monitor and evaluate the child's progress and make adjustments as needed;
• Provide direct teaching and training to clients, families, and caregivers on how to implement plan;
• Coordinate and advocate for newcomer children with support needs to access safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client centered care;
• Facilitate referral and linkage to services for children with support needs;
• Collaborate with schools, other relevant agencies to facilitate support for children with support needs.  
• Provides support and input for program guidelines and policies that entail quality program delivery.  
• Provide trainings and case management support to clients as needed.
• Promotes public awareness of and support for the program using promotional materials, conducting marketing campaigns, and attending community events.
• Researches and compiles a comprehensive database of community resources networks.
• Promoting Community Belonging by providing Services that may include but are not limited to: one-to-one peer mentoring; group meetings and gatherings focused on connecting families; informal opportunities to meet/share conversations, parent support groups. 
• Records and reports on data and information required to meet contractual obligations within firm deadlines.
• Maintains accurate statistics as assigned by Manager.
• Completes all other related tasks as assigned by the Manager.

Qualified candidates will possess: 

• A Masters degree in Counselling or Social Work and 2 years of relevant work in the community/social services/settlement sector. 
• Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation from the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors
• Recent experience supporting children 0-6 years with support needs;
• Prior experience in community outreach program is required;
• Experience working with diverse and multi-lingual groups;
• Knowledge of community resources for families with children with support needs;
• Excellent problem-solving ability, communication skills, discretion, and judgment;
• The ability to work collectively in a team environment;
• Strong English language writing skills;
• Fluency in Farsi, Pashto, or Dari languages is required.
• A valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable, fully operational vehicle;

A criminal record check is required as a part of thisprocess.
