The Savannah Convention Center is currently seeking a part-time Public Safety Officer to join our team.ย ย ย The Public Safety Officerย shall be responsible for the implementation of security policies and procedures of the department under the direction of the Assistant Public Safety Manager and/or Senior Public Safety Manager. Duties include but are not limited to: patrolling the interior and dock areas of the facility, completing written incident reports and departmental documents, and responding to emergency situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete shift assignments as required in accordance with established guidelines
  • Patrol the interior, exterior and dock areas of the campus. Patrolling may include foot beat, bike patrol, and/or motorized cart
  • Complete written incident reports and departmental documents.
  • Perform crowd management
  • Perform public safety officer duties, crime prevention and safety inspections
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Provide public safety
  • Respond and investigate concerns, complaints or calls for service
  • Provide safety escorts
  • Serve as a point of information to the public
  • Perform other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Public Safety Manager and/or Senior Public Safety Manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Law enforcement work can be very dangerous and stressful. In addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, security officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number threatening situations. Officers frequently work weekends, holidays, and nights. Officers are expected to work at any time their services are needed and may work long hours standing post. Officer are expected to report for duty in full uniform with the appropriate and necessary equipment needed in the performance of their duty. All positions are required to work in inclement weather conditions if necessary.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License preferred
  • Customer Service/ Relations experience preferred
  • Previous work experience as a Public Safety Officer or relevant position preferred
  • Report writing skills strongly preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols preferred
