Responsibilities may include monitoring patient behavior, assisting with daily activities, administering medications, and implementing treatment plans. Part-time technicians work fewer hours than full-time staff but still play a vital role in maintaining patient well-being. They may be employed in hospitals, mental health facilities, residential treatment centers, or correctional institutions. Strong communication, empathy, and observational skills are essential for success in this role.

Part Time Psychiatric Technicians typically assist patients with daily living activities, monitor behaviors, and support therapeutic or recreational interventions under the supervision of nursing or clinical staff. You may also help administer medications, document patient progress, and assist in crisis situations using approved de-escalation techniques. Collaboration with nurses, social workers, and other team members is common to ensure comprehensive patient care. Working part-time can offer flexible hours while still providing valuable experience in mental health services and opportunities for future advancement.
