MAINTENANCE WORKER- Extendicare Cedars Villa

Candidates are invited to apply for an IMMEDIATE OPENING as a PART TIME Maintenance Worker I, position at our Extendicare Cedars Villa facility, a 243-bed LTC, located in Calgary, Alberta.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker, will respond to all daily maintenance requests, conduct Preventative Maintenance inspections, and repair equipment as specified within our Preventative Maintenance program, report unsafe conditions/situations in accordance with applicable codes and regulations and as directed.Maintain grounds in all seasons. Be an active and supportive Maintenance Team member

Responsibilities

Light Construction

Complete daily maintenance requests as set out in our computer-generated maintenance program

General up-keep and improvements of building and property

Complete all building deficiencies as assigned within appropriate timelines

Accurate record keeping of work completed daily

Monthly Preventative Maintenance requirements as assigned

Experience in drywall repair, paint, minor electrical, plumbing

Maintain department records

Able to operate power yard equipment

Must be self-motivated

Must be familiar with Preventative Maintenance needs and requirements

Excellent communication skills both written and oral

Ability to listen effectively

Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills

Demonstrates problem solving skills

Work cooperatively with other service areas and programs to meet building and resident needs

Exhibits initiative, flexibility and creativity in implementation of duties

Works closely with other departments for resident, visitor, and staff safety and comfort

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete assignments in a timely manner

Lawn mowing, hedge trimming, snow and ice removal

Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects

Excellent attendance required

Any other assigned duties

Report to Maintenance Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Class 5 Power Engineer certification

1-2 years experience and/or knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry and heating and ventilation systems. History in construction is preferred.

Ability to work safely, follow established safety practices and procedures.

Ability to read and write English and understand moderately complex oral and written instructions.

Must supply Police Clearance and Vulnerability Sector check
