Job Summary:
The Culinary Arts Teacher, under the supervision of the Principal, shall develop the instructional program for all culinary arts students, designed to help students gain hands-on experience in the culinary field. The teacher shall supervise the students' operation while using culinary equipment and managing product inventory. The teacher must be passionate about teaching and culinary arts, have good communication skills, pay attention to detail, and possess strong organizational skills.
Duties:
1. Develop and implement lessons to teach skills required in Culinary Science.
2. Provide group and individual instruction in food preparation, cooking methods, and baking techniques.
3. Provide instruction in food science and culinary science.
4. Provide instruction in safety and sanitation skills.
5. Provide instruction in nutrition.
6. Make necessary modifications to the curriculum/lessons as needed.
7. Assist in various school activities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s Degree โ€“ Preferred
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.
- Ability to organize environments and instruction to facilitate learning and adapt to school and student needs.
- Write lesson plans and develop projects for individual and group instruction.
- Ability to use diverse teaching strategies to meet students' learning styles, abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds.
- Follow school/district safety procedures.
