Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor- Cosmetology (Part-Time) position, in the Business and Public Service Technologies (BPST) division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College's main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Under general supervision of the Dean of Business & Public Service technologies and the Cosmetology Department Chair, the Adjunct Instructor- Cosmetology (Part-Time) will demonstrate a passion for teaching and commitment to helping students develop essential cosmetology skills. This is a part-time position, working up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Teach Cosmetology courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the industry environment while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
  • Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Cosmetology.
  • Utilize current curriculum and instructional materials to teach the state approved Cosmetology curriculum to enrolled students.
  • Foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings.
  • Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives, ensuring student learning outcomes are attained and properly recorded.
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation and administrative reports.
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory.
  • Proactively retain students who enroll in the program through graduation.
  • Assist with the placement of program graduates.
  • Maintain good rapport with business, industry, and the public sector.
  • Under general supervision, prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses.
  • Prepare standardized course syllabi.
  • Assess students' satisfactory progress based on established course grading requirements.
  • May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom or online course delivery.
  • Measure program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success.
  • Effectively interact with a diverse student population; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active Master Cosmetologist Instructor license in good standing.
  • Three (3) years full-time, paid work experience within the past seven years.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and Saturdays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) - four (4) continuous hours at a time; and may occasionally lift up to 25lbs. Exposure to chemicals and fumes is possible in the laboratory setting.A full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
