The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 154 elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. It is one of the largest private school systems in the United States. Its schools have received 96 Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education over the past 10 years.
The School Librarian oversees the school library and promotes a love of reading, learning, and responsible use of information. The librarian maintains an engaging, age-appropriate collection that supports the school curriculum and provides students with opportunities to develop research, reading, and information-literacy skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, organize, and maintain the library collection and resources.
  • Teach library, research, reading, and information-literacy skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers to support classroom curriculum and student learning.
  • Assist students in selecting appropriate books and resources.
  • Promote a love of reading through activities, displays, and special programs.
  • Maintain an orderly, welcoming, and safe library environment.
  • Monitor library materials, circulation, and inventory.
  • Support the Catholic mission and values of the school and serve as a positive role model for students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

This position has an hourly range of $16.00 - $18.00. An employee's pay within the hourly range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
