Twisters Competitive Gymnastics Coach


About us

Twisters, Inc. located in Berlin, MD is looking to fill lead gymnastics coaching positions. With over 20 years in business, Twisters Gymnastics has a strong history of continued success in Maryland and Region 7. Applicants would work with one or more of our USAG teams; Compulsory, Xcel, and Optional levels. Must be willing to teach recreational gymnastics classes as well. Previous coaching experience and references are required. This position works closely with others, as well as independently.


Reports to: Gym Manager

Teams with: Recreational Gymnastics Coordinator

Hours:

  • Part time, 15-30 hours OR
  • Full time, 30-40 hours; varied Monday through Saturday; Weekends including Sunday during Meet Season. 

Benefits: Health, vision and dental plans, 3% IRA match, Paid Time Off. Professional development opportunities are paid for by the company, example: Regional/National Congresses.


Compensation: Range $18.00-$25.00/hour plus additional compensation for coaching meets (pay per session, meal per diem, mileage reimbursement, etc).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • USA Gymnastics Competitive Coach Certification. Employer paid renewals.
  • Must be in good standing with USAG and affiliates.
  • Documentation of previous experience as a competitive team coach with good references.

OTHER AMAZING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Judges Certification in Men's and/or Women's gymnastics.
  • Proven choreography experience.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and physical ability to teach specialized team and recreational programs.
  • Ability to effectively lead team and recreational classes, communications, and publicity functions.
  • Skilled in forward thinking, can identify problems or issues and develop effective solutions, resolve complex problems and gain cooperation among interested groups.
  • Ability to work with a growing program and participate in collaborative activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents, members, and co-workers, to provide clear directions and assistance.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working with children and keeping them motivated, organized, and interested while learning new skills in a fun and safe environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires, but is not limited to:

  • the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Hand-eye coordination.
  • The coach must observe and spot athletes as they perform on the various apparatuses. This includes(s) physical contact, such as lifting, holding, and flipping of all size children & high-level skills.
  • Physical activity may include climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, pulling and reaching or standing at heights above floor level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Ability to operate computers and office equipment and to perform training, instruction, and coaching.

2. Customer Service skills and Interpersonal skills to communicate with parents, staff, children, and the public.

3. Continually update knowledge of all Optional level requirements.


Requirements:

Must be able to pass a background check through USAG and obtain USAG Competitive Coach Certification immediately, if not already active.
