Job Description:

Demonstrates knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric.Follows best practices to reduce potential medication errors. Performs all duties and responsibilities for the assigned shift. Documents all pertinent data on the patient's medical record after completing service. Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding the purpose and possible side effects of each. Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment, remaining alert to possible side effects. Follows departmental equipment sterilization procedures. Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, including airway management and tracheal suctioning. Performs arterial punctures to obtain blood samples for gas analysis, understanding complications and contraindications. Assesses patient needs and tolerance for treatment, reassessing responses to therapy. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly, inspecting and testing to ensure functionality. Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on patient learning needs, including family involvement as appropriate.Other duties as assigned.
