Description of Position
The part-time athletic event attendant is responsible for assisting with event preparation, game day operations, facility setup, and post-event cleanup for all home athletic contests and special events within Yavapai College Athletics.
This role supports the successful execution of athletic events by ensuring facilities are prepared, operations run smoothly, and all event-related responsibilities are completed efficiently. The part-time athletic event attendant supports game-day staff and assists the athletics department with a variety of event preparation, game operations, and post-event tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Event Operations (When Assigned)
- Assist in planning and executing all home athletic contests and special events.
- Coordinate pre-game, in-game, and post-game operations.
- Perform various game day operational roles including ticket taking, scoreboard operation, public address announcing, statistics support, and concessions service.
- Ensure compliance with NJCAA, ACCAC (Region I), and institutional policies.
- Assist with facility setup including scorer's table, team benches, signage, hospitality areas, and equipment.
- Serve as point of contact for visiting teams and game officials during events.
- Monitor crowd management and help maintain a safe and professional game-day environment.
- Confirm proper game-day attire and professionalism of assigned staff.
- Submit post-event reports as required by the Athletic Director.
- Assist with inventory management and care of athletic equipment used during events.
- Support additional athletic department initiatives and special events as assigned.
2. Game Administration (When Assigned)
- Operate the electronic scoreboard accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain and complete the official scorebook for each assigned contest.
- Accurately record scoring, fouls, time-outs, game clock management, and required statistics.
- Submit all required game documentation and reports promptly following events.
3. Concessions & Event Support (When Assigned)
- Provide excellent customer service in concessions areas during events.
- Operate point-of-sale systems, including cash and credit card transactions.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Operate food service equipment (coffee/tea brewers, popcorn machines, beverage dispensers, etc.).
- Maintain sanitary conditions and adhere to proper food handling and alcohol compliance procedures.
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in athletics, event operations, or sports administration preferred.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic schedules.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Required Certifications (If Applicable)
- Yavapai County Food Handler Certification.
- Certifications must remain current throughout employment-
- Work experience in a community college/higher education environment
