How you will make an impact

  • Provide Onsite care to residents of the Continuing Care Retirement Community Diagnose and treat various diseases and deformities of the foot such as corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, tumors, bunions, cysts, and abscesses.
  • Makes and fits prosthetic devices and also prescribes prosthetic footwear.
  • Refers patients to a physician when symptoms observed in feet and legs indicate systemic disorders, such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, or kidney trouble.

What you will need

  • Completion of a 4-year podiatric college Geriatric Podiatry Experience Degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, or DPM; Degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, or DPM.
  • Minimum of 2 years of practical service accomplished in clinics, allied clinical programs, affiliated teaching hospitals and private offices.
  • Successful completion of residency programs lasting from 1 to 4 years, usually carried out in teaching hospitals and to include training and experience in such fields as emergency services, anesthesiology, radiology, general medicine, pathology, general surgery, and podiatric surgery, as well as dermatology, neurology, orthopedics, physical medicine, and rehabilitation.
