Job description

Salary: $20.00/hour minimum
Bargaining Unit (click here for contracts): Per Teamsters Contract
Report Times: 2:30pm - 11:00pm
Daily Hours: 8.5 (8 Paid)
Work Year:  12 months
Supervisor: Director of Facility Operations
Civil Service Title: Custodian
Minimum Requirements: 
Completion of eighth grade plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in building cleaning work.
Desired Qualifications: 
High School Graduate (or possess GED);
Three (3) years paid full time experience in building cleaning and maintenance activities;
One year experience as building Custodian;
Currently holds Civil Service title of Head Custodian or on the current list for Head Custodian;
Posses Stationary Engineer 3rd Class Boiler Operator License;
One year experience in building cleaning work;
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position;
Ability to supervise and get along with others;
Daily attendance is expected.
Position Summary/Responsibilities: 
Perform normal adjustments and routine service to equipment such as but not limited to: boilers or heating system, compressors, unit ventilators, fans, generators, chillers and all custodial maintenance and grounds care equipment;
Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repair of or facilitates required repairs to: building structures, plumbing, electrical and ventilation systems and operating equipment;
Responsible for outside grounds maintenance including but not limited to: lawn mowing, trimming of grass, trees and shrubbery, flower beds maintenance, snow removal, and the proper operation, repair and reports related to playground equipment;
Maintain inventory and procurement of custodial maintenance equipment, supplies and materials and is responsible for receipt of all incoming supplies and materials;
Train staff regarding proper cleaning techniques, equipment and material use and provides staff with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE);
Assist in proper emergency evacuation procedures;
On call to return to the facility for any emergency (break-ins, broken windows, fire alarms etc.);
Other duties as required.
