This role is ideal for those seeking work-life balance or supplementing their income while maintaining plumbing expertise.

What types of schedules or hours can I expect as a Part Time Plumber?

Part Time Plumbers often work flexible hours, which can include mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends, depending on employer needs and client requests. You may work independently or as part of a small team, and job duration can range from short service calls to half-day projects. Employers usually try to accommodate personal availability, but some on-call or urgent work may be required, especially in residential or commercial environments.

While most plumbers earn between $40,000 and $70,000 annually, highly experienced or specialized plumbers working in commercial or industrial settings can potentially earn close to or over $100,000. Earning $300,000 a year is uncommon and typically requires extensive experience, advanced skills, business ownership, or working in high-demand areas with overtime or emergency call-outs.

Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, piping systems, and local plumbing codes is vital, and in many locations, a valid plumbing certification or journeyman license is required. Excellent problem-solving, time management, and customer service skills help you stand out, especially when working independently or with clients. These abilities ensure you can efficiently address diverse plumbing issues, maintain safety standards, and deliver quality service in varying work environments.
