Plant Watchperson-Allakaket Alaska Power & Telephone is hiring for a part-time Plant Watchperson in Allakaket, Alaska. This position will be responsible for daily plant visits to monitor the facility and record information. This includes monthly meter reads and fuel dips, meter reading, and possibly changing oil on the engines. This position will assist the local telecom operations as needed. Candidate will need to be available to advise Tok operations of the outages and assist with outages if requested to do so, day or night.Duties and Responsibilities:Power Related TasksMeter readsFuel dipsEngine oil changesProvide local hands to work at direction of power engineering and operations to resolve outages or issues in the powerplant or on distribution.Provide local support for technicians traveling into the communityTelecom Related Tasks (if applicable)Use telephone handset to test dial-tone at NID (training to be provided by AP&T technicians;Perform testing of calling issueProvide local hands to work with telecom engineering and operations to resolve outages or issues in the central office or cabinetsProvide local support for technicians traveling into the community.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED requiredAbility to self-motivate and communicate with other team membersAbility to safely identify hazards and work around electrical and mechanical Mental flexibility, willingness to learn unfamiliar parts of the job and a positive attitudeMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background May be subject to random drug testing at any time.Desired Qualifications:1 year mechanical or electrical experience Physical Requirements of the Job:At times work will be performed in loud environments requiring hearing protectionAt times work will be performed in non-temperature-controlled environmentsAt times work will be performed around rotating equipmentAt times work will be performed while sitting, standing, crouching, squatting and at heightsAt times work will be performed in a standard office environment with regularly scheduled working hoursMust be capable of: Safely lifting of up to 30 pounds on occasion, main good balanceSafety and PPE must be worn at all times when performing work in the fieldOccasional travel to Tok may be requiredThe pay for this position is $28.00 per hour.AP&T is a small non-union utility serving over 40 Alaskan communities and villages.For more information about our organization, please visit https://www.aptalaska.comInterested?
