Is TrustedHousesitters a good company to work for?

Trusted House Sitters is a platform that connects pet owners with house sitters, offering opportunities to care for homes and pets. As a job, it typically involves flexible schedules, communication skills, and responsibility for property and animals, but the platform itself is not a traditional employer. Job seekers should research individual roles and reviews to assess work conditions and reputation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Trusted House Sitters position, and why are they important?

Trusted House Sitters must be reliable, attentive, and possess experience caring for homes, pets, and plants, often demonstrated through references or background checks. Familiarity with home security systems, pet care tools, and digital platforms for client communication is advantageous. Strong soft skills include responsibility, trustworthiness, adaptability, and excellent communication to update homeowners. These skills and qualities are vital to ensure the safety, maintenance, and peace of mind for property owners while they are away.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Trusted House Sitter?

A Trusted House Sitter's daily tasks usually include maintaining the cleanliness and security of the home, caring for pets (such as feeding, walking, or administering medication), collecting mail, watering plants, and promptly reporting any issues to the homeowner. Sitters may also be responsible for minor household tasks like putting out rubbish bins or handling deliveries. They are expected to provide regular updates to the homeowner to maintain trust and transparency. These responsibilities help ensure the property is well-kept and owners can be confident in leaving their home in someone else's care.

Do sitters get paid on TrustedHousesitters?

Trusted House Sitters is a platform where house sitters provide pet care and home sitting services in exchange for free accommodation; they do not receive payment. Sitters typically gain experience and enjoy travel opportunities, but the role is unpaid and based on mutual trust between sitters and homeowners.

What is a Trusted House Sitters job?

A Trusted House Sitters job involves caring for a homeowner's property and pets while they are away. Sitters provide security, maintain cleanliness, and follow specific pet care routines in exchange for free accommodation. Responsibilities vary but often include feeding pets, watering plants, and ensuring the home remains in good condition. Many homeowners use Trusted House Sitters to find reliable sitters, creating a mutually beneficial arrangement.

How much do you make from TrustedHousesitters?

Trusted House Sitters is a platform that connects pet sitters with homeowners, and it typically does not pay sitters directly. Instead, sitters often stay for free in exchange for caring for pets and homes, so income is usually not generated through the platform itself but through other employment or personal savings. Some sitters may earn income from related pet care services outside of the platform.

Is $100 a day good for house sitting?

For trusted house sitters, earning $100 a day can be considered a reasonable rate depending on the location, responsibilities, and duration of the assignment. Rates vary widely based on the complexity of care, the type of property, and whether additional tasks like pet care are involved. It is common for house sitters to negotiate compensation based on these factors and the market standards in their area.

Job description

Snout Services is a small, locally owned pet care company in Madison, Alabama. We take care of pets in their own homes with drop-in visits, walks, overnight house sitting, and pet taxi runs. Our clients trust us because we show up on time, communicate well, and treat their pets like our own. We treat our sitters the same way, and we're building a team that takes pride in doing things right.

What a typical day looks like: You'll head to a few different homes for drop-in visits, usually 30 or 60 minutes each. That covers feeding, fresh water, a walk, some playtime, scooping the litter, and giving medication if needed. You'll send the owner a few photos and a quick update so they know their pet is happy and well cared for. Some clients book overnight house sitting, where you stay at their home with their pets, and every so often we have a pet taxi run to drive a dog or cat to a vet or grooming appointment. We keep everything organized in our app, and staying in touch with owners is a big part of why they trust us.

Because pets need care every day, some visits may fall on weekends and holidays, and the role involves driving between homes throughout the day. Midday availability is required. We want to be upfront about that so you know what to expect going in.

What we're looking for:

  • Someone who genuinely loves animals and is comfortable around dogs of all sizes
  • A reliable, on-time person clients can count on. We hold ourselves to a professional standard of service
  • A dependable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and comfort driving around Madison area
  • Flexible availability, the more you're available, the more work we can offer you
  • Willingness to pass a background check, since you'll be trusted with clients' homes and keys

What we offer:

  • Pay per job
  • The more visits, pets, and overnights you take on, the more you earn
  • 100% of your tips
  • Holiday pay
  • A flexible schedule that works around your life
  • A real path from part-time to full-time. We love growing our team from within

We're hiring part-time to start, with the goal of moving our best people into full-time as we grow. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. When you apply, tell us a little about why you want to work in pet care and what your weekly availability looks like.
