A Part Time Pest Control job involves identifying, managing, and preventing pest infestations for residential or commercial clients on a limited or flexible schedule. Responsibilities may include inspecting properties, applying treatments, setting traps, and advising customers on pest prevention. This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work hours while ensuring a safe and pest-free environment. Training and certification requirements vary by employer and location.

What are some challenges I might face as a part time pest control technician?

As a part-time pest control technician, you may encounter challenges such as working with potentially hazardous chemicals, managing a changing schedule based on customer needs or seasonal demands, and addressing a wide variety of pest issues in different environments. You’ll often need to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in confined or hard-to-reach spaces, and communicate clearly with clients about treatment plans and preventive measures. However, this role offers valuable hands-on experience, opportunities for on-the-job training, and the flexibility to balance work with other commitments.

Key skills for a Part Time Pest Control role include knowledge of pest management techniques, safety protocols, and sometimes a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with industry-standard chemicals, traps, sprayers, and, in some states, appropriate pest control certifications or licenses is crucial. Attention to detail, customer service abilities, and strong communication skills help professionals excel in this position. These competencies are important to ensure service effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and positive client relationships.

Is part time pest control a good side hustle?

Is part time pest control worth it as a job?

Part time pest control jobs involve inspecting and treating properties for pests, often requiring knowledge of pest behavior and use of specialized equipment. Western Pest Control - Hurricane, UT - Part-Time

About Us

Western Pest Control has been keeping Southern Utah homes and businesses pest-free since 2001. We're locally owned, family-operated, and proud of it. With 3,000+ five-star Google reviews and an A+ BBB rating, we've built our reputation the old-fashioned way - by doing great work and treating people right. We give 10% of our profits back to the local community, because we're not just here to do good work, we're here to be good neighbors. When phones are answered fast, customers feel taken care of. When errands get done without drama, the whole operation runs smoother. That's where you come in.

The Role

This is a support role that touches a little bit of everything. Some days you're on the phone helping customers. Some days you're out running errands or handling miscellaneous tasks that keep the office moving. The common thread is that you show up ready, take direction well, and get things done without needing someone to hold your hand.

Day-to-day you'll be answering phones, texts, and emails during peak hours, running errands and supply pickups, filling in where the team needs coverage, and supporting the office with whatever comes up. Flexibility isn't just a perk here - it's the job. This is an afternoon position, around 20+ hours per week - though we have some flexibility on that for the right person. If your schedule is a little different, let's talk. We'll teach you our systems and processes. What you bring is the attitude.

We offer competitive pay, bonuses, paid vacation, matching retirement, and much more!

Who You Are

You're the kind of person who just handles it. Here's what that looks like:

  • You're comfortable switching gears mid-day and don't need everything spelled out to get moving.
  • You communicate clearly and warmly, whether it's a customer on the phone or a quick update to your manager.
  • You're reliable, show up consistently, and when the to-do list shifts you roll with it.
  • You genuinely enjoy helping people - not as a performance, but because it comes naturally.
  • You take feedback well and use it to improve.
  • No pest control experience needed. We'll train you on everything that matters. What we're looking for is someone who takes initiative, follows through, and cares about doing things right.

Our Core Values

We hire people, not just resumes. These are the values we live by - if they sound like you, we want to talk.

  • Integrity - We do the right thing, legally, ethically, and safely. Every time.
  • Follow-Through - We close the loop. If you said you'd do it, you do it.
  • Kaizen - We keep getting better and we don't settle.
  • Service Above Self - We look for ways to help beyond the minimum.
  • Be Kind, Have Fun - We work hard and we enjoy each other. Good energy is part of the job.
  • Exceptional Communication - We keep everyone clear, informed, and aligned.
  • Create Value - We make every hour and action count. Think win-win.
