What is a part time personal driver?

Part time personal drivers are professionals who provide driving services for individuals or families on a flexible or reduced hours schedule, rather than working full-time. They are responsible for safely transporting clients to and from destinations, assisting with errands, and sometimes handling the maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle. Their schedules can include evenings, weekends, or specific days as needed by the client. This job often requires a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and good knowledge of local routes. Part time personal drivers may be employed directly by individuals or work through agencies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time personal driver?

To thrive as a Part Time Personal Driver, you need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and a thorough knowledge of local routes and traffic laws. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, ride-sharing apps, and basic vehicle maintenance is typically required. Excellent punctuality, discretion, and strong interpersonal skills help build trust and ensure client satisfaction. These skills and qualities are crucial for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services.

What are some common challenges faced by part time personal drivers, and how can they be addressed?

Part time personal drivers often encounter challenges such as managing unpredictable schedules, navigating heavy traffic, and maintaining clear communication with clients. Flexibility and strong time-management skills are essential to handle last-minute requests or changes in plans. To address these challenges, drivers should familiarize themselves with alternate routes, use GPS and real-time traffic apps, and establish clear agreements with clients regarding availability and expectations. Building a reputation for reliability can also lead to more consistent work opportunities.

Job description

Alto Rideshare Driver | Car & Insurance Provided

Now hiring for immediate starts at our Hollywood and Inglewood locations!

Love driving customers, but hate the gas expenses and wear & tear that rideshare puts on your personal vehicle? Join the Alto team as a W-2 employee driver! Drive a company-provided luxury SUV and complete trips on the Uber app. Earn a guaranteed hourly wage, plus tips and employee benefits!

Why Drive with Alto?

  • Weโ€™ve been redefining the rideshare experience for drivers since 2018. We give you all the tools you need, so you can focus on what you do best: delivering great rides for your passengers.

  • We handle all vehicle costs, including fuel, maintenance, and insurance โ€” which means no out-of-pocket expenses for you. Just show up to work, pick up your car for the day, and hit the road!

  • Get paid by the hour, not by the trip. Our top drivers make over $25/hr including base hourly pay, bonuses, and tips.

  • Safety is our top priority. Enjoy peace of mind with our best-in-class safety features, including built-in dash cams and 24/7 support team.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Hourly pay starts at $18.42, with raises starting in as little as one month. We also offer weekly performance bonuses. Plus, keep 100% of your tips!

  • Get paid on your terms: receive weekly pay through direct deposit or choose On-Demand Pay to get paid as often as daily.

  • Basic healthcare coverage, including dental and vision, and 401(k) with up to 4% company match.

Schedule:

  • Prioritizing Drivers with Weekend or Night Availability: Full-time or part-time hours available but must be willing to work at least 1 weekend day (Saturday or Sunday), OR overnights (shifts beginning after 8pm).

  • Take time off when you need it: Enjoy unlimited unpaid time off, as long as you plan ahead.

  • Pick up extra shifts: Grab extra hours whenever it suits you, up to 45 hrs/week!

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to drive on the Uber app (no suspensions from the Uber platform).

  • Must be 25 years of age or older.

  • Must have a valid California Driver's License with a minimum of 1 year of driving experience in the United States.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.

  • Must have a clean driving record.

  • Fluent in English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to communicate verbally and follow directions from our Driver Support team.

  • Comfortable with navigational apps (Uber driver app, Google Maps, emails, web browsing).

  • Capable of entering and exiting the vehicle consistently to assist customers with their luggage.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Able to sit for extended periods.
