The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program (BMT) at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital is among the best in the world. SCHEDULE: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (60 hours) every two weeks on the Night shift, 8 hour shifts and every other weekend

About this Unit:
The Pediatric BMT & Heme/Onc Unit (Unit 4) provides care to pediatric hematology/oncology, GI patients and their families. We have 24 beds on the unit. We work together with the entire interdisciplinary team (MDs, NPs, NSTs, OT/PT, Speech, SW, etc) to deliver quality care. Patient assignment varies based on acuity, Med/Surg or IMC.
This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours) every two weeks on the Night shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend
  • Provides complex care to pediatric patient/families preparing for and undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, pediatric hematology-oncology, urology, blood and marrow, metabolic, and gastrointestinal disorders
  • Performs advanced monitoring using current technology.
  • Manages sophisticated medication and infusion therapies
  • Cares for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
  • Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.
  • Bed capacity: 24
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:2 to 1:4

Required Qualifications
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • 1+ years of Acute RN, Inpatient Pediatric BMT and/or Heme/Onc Experience Required
  • OR Will Consider New Grads with Capstone, Preceptorship or Internship in Pediatric BMT/Hem Onc

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Chemo Certified Preferred
  • Pediatric, BMT, or Heme/Onc Certifications
  • IMC Vent Training or Enrolled
