Job description

We are currently hiring for a RN PICU. This is a 0.6 FTE - Straight Night. 12-hour shifts with every third weekend 12-hour shifts. Critical care experience required. Pediatric experience preferred. PALS, BLS required.

In this role, you’ll support children and teens who are critically ill, recovering from complex surgeries, or healing from traumatic injuries—playing a vital role in stabilizing patients and setting the foundation for long-term recovery and rehabilitation.

Our PICU combines advanced clinical care with a calm, healing environment designed for both patients and families. As an RN, you’ll collaborate closely with a skilled, multidisciplinary team of critical care experts to manage complex conditions such as brain and spinal cord injuries, respiratory complications, severe infections, and post-surgical recovery.

Purpose of position

This position exists to administer family-centered nursing care to patients, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and/or provide skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families. Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.

Compensation & Benefits Information

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $43.28 - $73.97. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Gillette supports career progression and offers a competitive benefits package that includes a retirement savings match, tuition and certification reimbursement, paid time off, and health and wellness benefits for .5 FTE and above. $1.75/weekend, $2.75/evening, $4.00/night differential is available for this position.

Qualifications

Required

  • Documentation of completion of professional nursing program (RN program)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If candidate holds valid CPR for through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of employment.
  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. PALS must be obtained by the end of orientation or max of 3 months of hire, whichever occurs first.
  • Must be interested in working with people with short term or long-term disabilities that begin in childhood.
  • Physically able to work hours required and meet physical demands of the position. In certain departments, this will include being part of the off-premises call schedule.

 Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related field.
  • Prior nursing experience in a health-related setting
  • Nursing Specialty Certification relevant to the position
