Position Purpose

  • Responsiblefor obtaining and verifying demographic and financial information for all inpatients and outpatients prior to or during the registration process.

As a "Representative I, Patient Access" you will:

  • Excellent customer service skills areutilizedin all dealings with patients, family members, physician offices, third partypayersand co-workers.

  • Financial/insurance information is communicated to case management and financial counseling staff whenappropriate. Completes all managed care notification requirements.

  • Maintains patientconfidentiality andalways adheres to hospital privacy and security policies.

  • May berequiredto enter laboratory and radiology orders, when necessary.

  • Minimizes the financial risk of providing services by assessing the patient's financial status,verifyingand enteringaccuratepatient information into the registration system, obtaining signatures on all required hospital and regulatory forms and obtaining applicable patient payments prior to or at the time services are provided.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and writtenform. Fluency in both English and Spanish preferred. Spanish may berequiredfor this position in specific settings.

  • Two-year experience in a hospital and/or other health care setting, preferably in registration, billing, cashcollectionsor insurance requirements. Familiarity with third party/insurance payers and medical terminology preferred.

  • Proficiencyin the use of computers. Specifically, Microsoft products and email.

  • Typing skills of 45 wpm or higher required.

  • Excellent telephone customer service skills, strong interpersonal communication, problemsolvingand organizational skills.

  • Willingness to transport patients by wheelchair, meet patient age-specific needs,

  • Ability to stand forlong periodsof time.

Pay Range: $17.89 - $25.04

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

FT/PT Benefit eligible Roles:

**0.5 FTE (20 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)
