Job description

Do you enjoy early mornings, working with your hands, and have a passion for amazing food prepared from scratch?

The Deschutes Brewery Bend Public House is looking for an enthusiastic part-time Baker, who is driven, excels in a fast-paced kitchen, and is committed to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. A sense of urgency, attention to detail and commitment to quality are required. We are looking for someone with a great attitude that can work effectively in a team-based atmosphere, has effective communication skills, and is a motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic.

The right fit will have the highest ability to mix, shape, and bake handcrafted savory breads, crackers, and rolls...just to name a few! Previous commercial baking experience with artisan breads (mix/bake/shaping) and/or pastry is required.


This a part-time position. Applicants must have weekend availability, scheduled days and hours may vary based on business need.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Measure and mix ingredients to shape breads, rolls, and desserts
  • Weigh materials to ensure appropriate quantity
  • Cut and mold dough into equal parts to ensure that each batch has a uniform appearance
  • Ensure that correct quantities of batches are being made
  • Ensure appropriate storage of baking utensils and supplies
  • Make sure that baking equipment is cleaned and maintained properly
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards
  • Oversee cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment

Requirements of the position:

  • Previous commercial baking experience with artisan breads and/or pastry required
  • This position primarily works early morning shifts. Day, weekend and night shifts may be required on occasion, flexibility is a plus!
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Positive attitude
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
