Job description

The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our school.  We are looking for two caring and motivated Paraprofessionals to work with our blind/low-vision preschool students under the supervision of an Instructor for the Blind/Low Vision at USDB. These positions are located in Salt Lake City.

Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Paraprofessional you will:

  • Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor
  • Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor
  • Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas
  • Assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor 
  • Assist with routine daily activities, i.e. bus duty, recess, lunch, bathroom (may include diapering), etc.
  • Provides support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students.
  • Maintains accurate records and logs.
  • Designs and/or prepares training/instructional materials, teaching aids and devices.
  • These are part-time positions for nine (9) months (181 days) each school year.
