Job Overview

The Paramedic will deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to patients.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Valid Driver's License and compliance with current vehicle insurance requirements
  • New Jersey Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic Certification (eligible for reciprocity)
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider (CPR)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Hazmat Awareness Certification
  • Completion of ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800
  • Completion of Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training

Scheduling Requirements
  • Per Diem: Employees must provide availability for 10 shifts and work 6 shifts over 3 months. Per Diem staff are required to work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday, along with 2 weekend shifts. All shifts must be within the assigned region. Per Diem employees can choose to work day or night shifts and select their preferred Station/Unit.
    • Per Diem employees must maintain their minimum required shifts.
  • Part-Time: Employees are assigned two regular shifts per week, totaling 4 shifts over 2 weeks, with at least 2 of the 4 shifts on weekends, in their designated region.
    • Part-Time employees must work 24 hours per week.
  • Full-Time: Employees are assigned 3 shifts per week, including weekend requirements, in their designated region. This role follows a Rotating Pitman schedule.
    • Full-Time employees must work 36 hours per week.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain a professional, dignified, and compassionate demeanor at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Inform the Supervisor of any maintenance, equipment, or supply deficiencies.
  • Immediately report any unusual circumstances to the Supervisor.
  • Administer treatment according to established patient care protocols.
  • Operate department vehicles in compliance with all applicable NJ Motor Vehicle Laws and organizational driving policies.
  • Complete department-specific continuing education programs in addition to those mandated by the State of New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Ensure all patient care documentation adheres to the organization's documentation procedures.
  • Engage professionally with partners, patients, management, colleagues from other EMS agencies, public safety personnel, and other healthcare providers.
  • Perform routine tasks to ensure personal safety and facilitate patient care.
  • This includes, but is not limited to: completing vehicle inspection forms, submitting vehicle maintenance requests, providing required certifications before their due dates, complying with hospital Employee Health requirements such as TB testing and N95 fit testing, and completing annual self-evaluations and employee engagement surveys promptly.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by management that are necessary for the organization's operations.
