Position Purpose:

The Preop/PACU department at Mount Carmel New Albany has 27 beds. The patient population is mostlyorthopedicswith some breast oncology, plastics, and general surgery as well. Thenurse to patientratio in Preop and PACU is 1RN :2 patients and Phase II PACU is 1RN :4 patients. The ortho surgeryfocusas Mount Carmel New Albany provides a unique family-like atmosphere to staff and patients.PreviousCritical Care, Emergency Department, or PACU experience is preferred.

TheRegistered Nurse RN, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional,socialand spiritual needs.The Registered NurseRN,collaborates in the spirit ofteamworkis accountable for the delivery of patient careutilizingthe Nursing Process within the standards, policies,proceduresand guidelines of the Organization.

What you will do:

  • Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and qualityinitiativesandexhibitsprofessionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program.

  • Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizingevidence basedpractice. Collaborates withpatientand family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical,spiritualand educational components.

  • Accurately communicates pertinent information toappropriate teammembersin a timely manner. Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.

  • Documents accurately and completelypertinentassessments,interventionsand outcomes for patientsin accordance withdocumentation standards, policies,proceduresand/or guidelines.

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers asappropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate from school of nursing.

  • Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

  • For CasualRNs2 years of experience isrequired.

  • All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject toparticipateand will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.
