Job description

Salary Range: $33.37 - $45.99
Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.
Position Summary:
  • The Registered Dietitian reports to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
  • The Registered Dietitian will be a District Dietitian providing medical nutrition therapy to patients at both the CCC and the acute hospital as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
  • Responsible for the nutritional needs of patients through the coordination of activities related to medical nutrition therapy and the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Performs medical nutrition therapy for patients who are infants, children, adolescents or an adult.
  • Works well under stress or tight deadlines.
  • Establishes and maintains effective, courteous and respectful working relationships with patients, families, members of the medical and nursing staffs as well as co-workers.

District Responsibility:
  • Supports the District mission and values.
  • Demonstrates respect, professionalism and courtesy to all patients, visitors, other providers and co-workers, as delineated in the LVMC "Commitment to Care".
  • Constantly use C-I-CARE principles when communicating with others.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development

Position Duties/Responsibility:
  • Conducts assessments; develops and recommends evidence-based nutrition interventions, including therapeutic diets; develops and implements care plans and provides nutrition counseling to the patient and/or the patient's family members at the Acute Hospital and CCC.
  • Refer to Acute Registered Dietitian job description for job duties when working at the acute
  • Refer to CCC Registered Dietitian job description for job duties when working at the CCC
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy to individuals and groups in an outpatient setting.
  • Participates in community health and wellness events.
  • Completes continuing education units in compliance with Commission on Dietetic Registration requirements.
  • Other duties assigned

Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics.
  • Must provide statement of 'Registration Eligible' and take the exam within 6 months of hire.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), registration eligible individuals will be considered.
  • Skills/Ability:
  1. Strong communication skills.
  2. Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  3. Safety requirements.
  4. Quality improvement principles.
  5. Maintain records in an organized manner.
  6. Maintain the department's CMS and California state accreditation.
  7. Establishes and maintains effective, positive working relations with departmental employees, hospital staff, medical staff and patients.
  8. Assures safe practices and techniques are used in the department.
  9. Communicates policies to hospital and dietary employees.
