Overview:

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring an Endoscopy Registered Nurse at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia.

This is a full time, day shift position with required call.

Must be within 30 -45 minutes of hospital location for call

Hours: 5 eight-hour shifts from 7AM to 3PM Monday to Friday.

Call Requirement: 20 days per month (One week on one week off). Weekday call is 3p to 7am. Every other weekend.

About the department:

Our newly remodeled endoscopy unit features three state-of-the-art procedure rooms and is staffed by a dedicated team of six RNs and endoscopy technicians who work closely with a primary GI outpatient provider, with additional staff available for call coverage and surgical needs. The team performs an average of 12 to 15 procedures daily. Extensive training, lasting 4 to 6 weeks, ensures the endoscopy technician will be proficient in equipment handling, assisting during procedures, and supporting hands-on surgeries. Our experienced gastroenterologists and colorectal surgeons, deliver comprehensive care through both outpatient and inpatient services, ensuring the highest quality patient care.

This role will work directly with the physician during procedures. Procedural experience preferred.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education

  • Diploma in Registered Nursing required
  • BSN or MSN Preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire

Experience

  • Previous Endoscopy experience preferred
  • 18 months of procedural nursing experience preferred
  • Experience in Operating room or sterile settings preferred
  • Team work and communication skills required
