At the Kentucky Bariatric Institute and Bariatric ICU, we are dedicated to helping patients overcome the challenges of obesity and related health conditions, including diabetes. As a leader in metabolic and bariatric surgery, our program is at the forefront of innovative treatments that improve health, restore confidence, and transform lives.

Our Bariatric ICU team partners closely with the Kentucky Bariatric Institute to provide specialized, compassionate care throughout the patient journey-from pre-operative preparation to post-operative recovery. Team members have the unique opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, collaborate with highly skilled multidisciplinary providers, and play a vital role in helping patients achieve life-changing outcomes.

How you'll contribute

An RN who excels in this role:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

  • Documents patient care given.

  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Kentucky or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate's Degree Required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred

  • Current RN to practice in the state of KY

  • Certifications: BCLS
