The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a  Sr Design Engineer - Exhaust.

Job Summary

The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting motorcycle development programs from initial concept to delivery for exhaust systems/components. This role helps deliver Harley-Davidson’s world class sound while meeting world-wide noise and tailpipe emissions regulations.  They will be a technical resource for a team of engineers and designers, as well as other departments including Manufacturing, Service, Styling, Purchasing, etc. They will be very hands-on with team members, other System and Platform teams and departments to ensure that projects meet time, quality, cost and weight requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to deliver exhaust systems from concept to production
  • Introduction of new technologies into Life Cycle Plans
  • Follow and support engineering best practices and guidelines for design of products
  • Ensure exhaust meets all requirements for great rider experience, regulatory compliance, and durability
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Required
Education Specifications
  • Bachelors of Science (BS) degree is required in either: Electrical, Mechanical, or Electro-mechanical.
  • Masters of Science degree (MS) in a technical field preferred.
Experience Requirements
  • Typically requires 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience working directly in product development
  • Well-rounded engineering background in multiple areas of product development and project management
  • Background in being the “point person” on technical design reviews (DFMEA and DVP&R)
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (Pro-E or Creo) to ensure design accuracy
  • Good understanding of noise development and design of mufflers, headers, and catalysts
  • Experienced with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and datum structure development.
  • Concise communication skills, detail-oriented mindset, and is a strong team player.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
