Summary:

Jorgensen Farms is made up of multiple divisions, creating a unique agritourism environment that blends organic farming with special events. The Accounting Specialist will support all areas of the business to assist division heads and managers in meeting the company's financial needs. The Accounting Specialist is entrusted to ensure all financial obligations are managed and reported accurately. *This position is part-time (20-25 hours per week)


Responsibilities:

  • Execute accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting principles
  • Support the preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports, contributing to informed decision making
  • Perform credit card, bank statement, and general ledger account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, prepare journal entries, ensuring all transactions are properly entered into the general ledger and consistently documented in an orderly manner
  • Participate in audits and financial reviews, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations
  • Ensure financial data is entered correctly and accurately, with attention to meeting required weekly and monthly reporting timeline expectations
  • Collect and organize receipts, expenses, and reports
  • Generates accounting and audit reports for cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses
  • Responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Maintain accurate and organized filing systems
  • Partner with third-party CPA on various accounting tasks and projects such as sales tax, payroll tax, property tax, and income tax
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in the accounting profession; applies this knowledge to recommend and implement process and policy changes
  • Implements appropriate financial controls, ensuring segregation of duties, accuracy, and effective oversight of financial transactions
  • Maintain vendor compliance for 1099โ€™s, W-9s, and Certificates of Insurance
  • Coordinate the check run process
  • Assist the President with other business-related tasks when needed
  • Whatever it takes to create a comfortable, welcoming, and supportive environment for all staff and guests
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter with strong initiative and ownership mentality
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and precision in all tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while balancing multiple tasks and setting priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Integrity, ethical and moral behavior regarding operations, client, and company confidentiality
  • 5 years minimum of bookkeeping/staff accountant experience required, including experience in
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable, making journal entries, budgeting, month end closing
  • An Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
  • Expert in QuickBooks software โ€“ QuickBooks Pro Certified is preferred
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables or VLOOKUPโ€™s
  • Experience in working across departments in an entrepreneurial or family-owned business is preferred
