Duties and Responsibilities:
• Providing and supporting classroom instruction for the Maritime and Safety Program.
• Maintaining a safe, orderly and up-to-date lab area for the application of multiple labs within the Maritime and Safety program.
• Developing and maintaining professional relations with the industry through industry visits and advisory committee meetings.
• Maintaining classroom hours as listed on the course syllabus.
• Preparing and providing course syllabi and instructional materials to students.
• Evaluating and reviewing students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Keeping appropriate records of testing and grading, as per college standards.
• Utilizing technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, communicate with others and facilitate learning.
• Maintaining student discipline through effective classroom management.
• Attaining, maintaining and reviewing program certification requirements, as appropriate.
• Fulfilling professional assignments in accordance with the South Louisiana Community College calendar and contractual obligations.
• Partner with Business and Industry to promote Maritime and Safety Program
Required Education:
• High school diploma or GED
Required Experience:
• Four years of full-time work experience in Firefighting and /or Firefighting Instruction
• One full year of the above full-time work experience must have been served within the last two years
• Up-to-date safety certifications
• Work Experience in the Oil & Gas Industry
• Four years of full-time work experience in the Firefighting
• One full year of the above full-time work experience must have been served within the last two years

• Associate Degree
Preferred Experience:
• Offshore drilling/production experience
Passing pre-employment criminal background and drug screen are required as a condition of employment.
