Job description

Position Title: HVAC Maintenance Technician
Location: Homestead, Florida
Job Type: Part-time
  
Job Summary:
Viakorp Corporation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Maintenance Technician to perform routine, scheduled, and preventive maintenance services on HVAC systems across client facilities. The technician will be responsible for daily operational checks, monthly system performance evaluations, and biannual deep inspections to ensure reliable, safe, and energy-efficient performance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Responsibilities:
             Daily Checks
  • Ensure all thermostats are properly set and functioning correctly
  • Verify airflow and operation of air handler units (AHUs)
  • Inspect for signs of water accumulation, drip pan overflow, and condensation issues
             Monthly Service Tasks
  • Evaluate overall HVAC system performance, including exposed ductwork inspections
  • Test and calibrate thermostats; confirm setpoint accuracy
  • Replace air filters in AHUs and clean mini-split system filters
  • Inspect evaporator and condenser coils for dirt, corrosion, or debris
  • Check refrigerant sight glasses and condenser fan performance
  • Inspect electrical panels for loose wiring and test all safety switches
  • Record and log system performance metrics: voltage, amperage, and temperature differentials
           Biannual Service Tasks
  • Test zone control systems and verify damper functionality
  • Calibrate thermostats and confirm actuator operation for all zones
  • Replace rooftop unit (RTU) and inline filters
  • Clean and flush all condensate pans and drain lines
  • Inspect blower fan assemblies for balance and wear; check motor voltage
  • Document all maintenance activities and flag issues requiring follow-up or corrective action
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical certification in HVAC
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC maintenance or facility operations
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
  • Familiarity with RTUs, AHUs, mini-splits, and VAV systems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and interpret electrical, temperature, and pressure readings
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
