What is a part time nurse practitioner?

A part time nurse practitioner is a licensed advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who works fewer hours than a full-time nurse practitioner, often providing patient care in clinics, hospitals, or other healthcare settings. They perform many of the same duties as full-time nurse practitioners, such as diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medications, and developing treatment plans, but on a reduced or flexible schedule. Many part time nurse practitioners choose this schedule to balance work with personal commitments or pursue other professional opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time nurse practitioner?

To thrive as a Part Time Nurse Practitioner, you need advanced clinical knowledge, strong diagnostic skills, and a master's or doctoral degree in nursing along with nurse practitioner certification and state licensure. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, telehealth platforms, and up-to-date clinical guidelines is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and time management skills are crucial for balancing patient care in a flexible or reduced-hours setting. These competencies ensure high-quality, efficient care delivery and enable effective collaboration within healthcare teams, even on a part-time basis.

How does a part time nurse practitioner typically collaborate with other healthcare professionals in a clinical setting?

Part-time nurse practitioners work closely with physicians, nurses, and medical assistants to deliver coordinated patient care. They often participate in team meetings, share patient updates, and consult with specialists to ensure treatment plans are comprehensive. While their hours may be limited, clear communication and thorough documentation are essential to maintain continuity of care across shifts. This collaborative approach helps part-time NPs integrate seamlessly with the broader healthcare team, even when working non-traditional or flexible schedules.

Job description

About the Position
LA ViE MD is a fast-growing, physician-led medspa with three locations. We're hiring an experienced Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant to join our team in our beautiful Livermore office. In your role at LA ViE MD, you'll perform a variety of services-from lasers and neuromodulators to fillers, body contouring, and wellness products. As a team, we're curious and aware of the newest technology to stay current on the best services we can offer our patients. This means that you will have the opportunity to share your expertise with our team while also receiving training on the products and services you might not have as much experience with. Although we would like to hire the person on a full-time basis, that will require the ability to bring clients with you and/or the ability to build relationships with clients through outbound efforts, we will also consider part-time people as well.
We're building more than a medspa-we're building a collaborative, supportive team that delivers an exceptional patient experience every time. We value your ideas, not just your hands. If you're motivated to grow with us, contribute to our vision, and make an impact, we'd love for you to continue reading below and apply today!
What You'll Be Doing
โ€ข Performing High-Quality Services: Deliver a wide range of cosmetic medical treatments offered at LA ViE MD, including lasers, fillers, neuromodulators (Botox, Daxxify, Dysport.), body contouring (Emsculpt Neo), and hair restoration therapies (PRP, Exosome Therapy). Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.

Educate patients on expected results using a consultative approach while ensuring full compliance with procedures and regulations.
โ€ข Build Relationships & Drive Return Business: Build trust with patients by getting to know the patient personally and recommending services that align with their needs and budget. Be a consultative partner by providing clear guidance and expectations on procedures, aftercare, discomfort and expected outcomes to build loyalty and encourage repeat visits. Call clients after visits to ensure clients understand post care, feel satisfied with treatments, increase client reviews, and schedule next visits to increase productivity.
โ€ข Operational Integrity: Using our EMR system to document visits and scribe during appointments (don't worry-we'll train you, but staying on top of this is key).Maintaining accurate, detailed, and timely medical records is essential in this role.
โ€ข Growing Patient Business: Creating fun and polished social media reels that increase business and match the LA ViE MD brand.
โ€ข Keeping Things Polished: Keeping treatment rooms organized, clean, and beautifully stocked so every visit feels premium and professional.
โ€ข Showing Coachability and Being a Team Player: Assist nurses and the doctor during cosmetic and medical dermatology procedures to support patients, your colleagues, and expand your clinical knowledge.
โ€ข Being Dependable: Our patients and team members count on our providers to be on time (which means 15 minutes early) to all scheduled office hours.
What You'll Bring:
โ€ข Active RN/NP/PA License with at least 5+ years of experience injecting neuromodulators and dermal fillers
โ€ข Experienced with various brand types of injectables and a willingness to be open to different injectables and techniques is important.
โ€ข Ability to keep schedule busy through getting repeat clients and new clients through your own outbound and social media efforts instead of solely relying on corporate marketing.
โ€ข Exudes positive energy and is optimistic when challenges present themselves.
โ€ข Naturally or skillfully builds connections with others by having a good sense of social cues, remembering important details about others and knowing the balance of how much to ask a patient and how much to share about yourself.
โ€ข Organized and efficient: you're someone who proactively looks for gaps in schedules to get them filled and maximizes time with other activities when it's not.
โ€ข Willingness to learn and participate in continuing education/training
โ€ข Knowledge on technical and anatomical trends for aesthetic treatments and general curiosity about skincare and cosmetic treatments. Track record of being dependable, prompt and time efficient with references that can speak to this.
What We Offer
โ€ข Ongoing hands on paid training
โ€ข Supportive, physician led team focused on patient care
โ€ข Productivity based incentives
โ€ข Latest cutting edge technology
โ€ข Full-time or Part-Time roles
โ€ข Discount on services (and some products or services will be free depending the hours worked, tenure, and other factors).
Location and Hours:
Our preference is to hire a part-time, on-site position at our Livermore location, approximately 13-22 hours per week. Clinic hours are currently Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm, and Saturdays 9:00pm-2:00pm. Any availability preferences or restrictions should be discussed during the interview process.
