Position Summary

Registered Nurses (RNs) provide direct nursing care to inmate patients, applying the nursing processโ€”assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluationโ€”in accordance with professional nursing standards. RNs collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure effective patient care and desired health outcomes.

Correctional nurses deliver care to promote and improve overall health, often managing a patient population that has had limited access to healthcare prior to incarceration. This role allows RNs to care for a wide range of conditions, from minor ailments to complex medical or behavioral health issues.


Job Requirements

Minimum Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment (maintain a current copy on file at all times)

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Previous experience in a correctional healthcare environment preferred
