Summary:

The Night Auditor is responsible for the overnight audit process and accounting functions such as daily reporting of revenues and accounts payables, transaction audits and verifications, and preparation of final statements for the next day's check-outs. They may also perform reception duties for late-night guests, including check-ins and addressing guest requests.ย ย ย 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Check front office accounting records for accuracy summarize information for the hotel's financial recordsย ย 
  • Track room revenue, occupancy percentages, and other front office operating statisticsย ย 
  • Prepare a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities reflecting the hotel's financial performance for the dayย ย 
  • Post room charges and room taxes to guest accounts including guest transactions not posted during the day by the front office cashierย ย 
  • Ensure charges of the day have been properly posted to the appropriate guest folio or master accountย 
  • Process guest charges voucher and credit card vouchersย ย 
  • Transfer charges and deposits to master accountsย ย 
  • Check to see that all charges are assigned to the appropriate departmentsย ย 
  • Verify that all transactions performed at the front desk are supported by documentary evidence and signaturesย ย 
  • Print and file reservations for the next business dayย ย 
  • Monitor the status of coupon, discount, and other promotional programsย ย 
  • Perform check-ins and check-outs as well as wake-up callsย ย 
  • Summarize results of operations for managementย ย 
  • Balance the days charges, making corrections as necessaryย ย 
  • Respond to guest needs, special requests, and complaintsย 
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of timeย ย 
  • Additional tasks may be assigned at any given timeย 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year of hotel front desk experience
  • Understand basic principles of auditing, balancing, and closing out accounts
  • Know how to operate front office equipment
  • Experience handling cash, accounting procedures, and general administrative tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
