Job description

The Oncology (4N) inpatient unit is located on the 4th floor of Goshen Hospital. This is an 18 bed step down unit with a patient population primarily with a cancer diagnosis. This unit also houses inpatient hospice patients and overflow step-down patients. Our target RN to Patient ratio for our step-down units are 1:3.

Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential as the nurse collaborates with a broad spectrum of providers, including family practice, hospitalists, medical oncologists, surgical oncologists and ancillary units to achieve excellent patient outcomes.

Oncology nurses are required to obtain and maintain competencies in Chemo, ACLS, and BLS. Certification is promoted and encouraged. Recognition is given to those who maintain their certification through our clinical ladder.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

  • BSN required
  • Current Indiana RN licensure
  • Current American Heart Association BLS provider
  • Colleagues hired with an Associate Degree must enter a BSN program within 12 months of hire and earn their BSN from a NLN or CCNE accredited program within 5 years of beginning their BSN degree.

Effective February 2021, Colleagues hired with an associate degree and 10 or more years of nursing experience may be exempt from entering into a BSN program.
