Job Overview

The registered professional nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.  The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.  The RN will function within the Shriners Children's Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes  accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.  The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN.  The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.  The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.  The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching, and may participate on committees or projects.  Shrines Spokane is looking for a part time RN to join the team!

Schedule: Part time, .75 FTE

The pay range for this position is $41.04-$70.35/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities
  • Provides nursing care to our pediatric patients in all of the perioperative areas, including Pre-op Holding, the Operating Room, and Phase I Recovery Room.
  • Performs assessments, interventions, circulating, IV starts, airway management, aseptic technique, and various other high acuity skills designed to keep the patients safe before, during, and immediately after surgery.  
  • Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues, Assesses comprehensive data including but not limited to physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs and interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis or issues as defined by the patient's condition.
  • Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan that prescribes strategies which address health promotion and restoration, health maintenance, or health related problems or issues and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
  • Involves patient, family and health-care team members in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis.
  • Implements the identified plan and coordinates care delivery
